HOW TO DO A COOL DIY WEDDING WITHOUT IT LOOKING ‘TOO HANDMADE’

I feel like the term ‘DIY wedding’ sometimes has a negative connotation; of being handmade, wonky and bit naff. But the fact is, if you’re doing a dry hire wedding, or planning the wedding yourself rather than enlisting a venue’s on site planner - you’re doing a DIY wedding! And having the ability to cherry-pick and curate your unique combination of suppliers can result in utter magic. You can combine elements from these suppliers WITH things you’ve made or sourced yourself.

If you’re not confident putting together a Wedding Styling plan, I can help with my Wedding Design Packages but for now, here are my top tips for some of my favourite DIY decor and UK wedding suppliers.

GREENFOX BAKERY

Claudia makes the most gorgeous, creative and delish buttercream cakes. Her business is aiming to be carbon neutral by the end of 2023 - how cool is that?!

Greenfox Bakery are based in Teddington, South London. Click here for more info.

diy paper sunburst backdrop

If you’re attempting a modern wedding and doing all the decoration and styling yourself, our Sunburst Backdrop workshop might be perfect for you. You can create in ANY colours - all you need is A3 paper in that colour!

I can share how to make this quick and easy backdrop with any of my Wedding Styling and Design clients - just ask if we’re working together!

I’ve got a handy video workshop and Cricut template I share for free. I teach you my much-honed making technique NOT just copied off Youtube because I’ve designed and made this backdrop from a creative idea in my head 😉

SYLVIE SIGNS

Esther has a range of beautiful signs for weddings, but can also create custom designs to order if you have something super specific in mind. Her signwriting and typography techniques are next level. You could use the sign at your wedding then put it up as an original piece of art in your home afterwards. Click the image to visit Sylvie Signs online.

Daydreamer Creative Studio

Tanya is one of my pals and also happens to be the OG and best fabric text banner maker - you WILL have seen her work on Instagram somewhere - she’s in demand!

Her banners make a perfect focal point and addition to any DIY wedding, plus you can keep them as a beaut addition and reminder of your big day in your home afterwards.
