HOW TO MAKE A MICRO WEDDING LOOK BEAUTIFUL

The restrictions announced this year for UK Weddings in the Coronavirus Pandemic got me thinking about all those large weddings that will take place in 2021 with a significantly smaller number of guests than first planned.

Here are my top 5 ideas for how to style an intimate wedding (possibly in a large venue) and make a Corona-impacted wedding still feel uber special and dreamy.

  1. CONSIDER PARTITIONS TO DIVIDE A LARGE SPACE

There are some gorgeous partitions and screen designs that I’ve seen recently floating about on Pinterest which could work if you’ve got the same venue for 15 as you did for 150.

You could use these to pull in the walls to make the room feel cosier, or how about creating a pathway with twists and turns for people to enter the room, to inject a bit of surprise and theatre. Hanging fabric panels from the ceiling can also work well to create this effect.

2. EMBRACE THE SPACE

Lean into the amount of space you have to create a dramatic impact. Fill empty floor space with something eye catching, like foliage, flowers, candles or lanterns. Give people plenty of seating space inbetween households so they can relax and feel safe.

3. SEATING CONFIGURATIONS

Smaller guest numbers mean you could play around with different viewpoints. How about getting married with your guests sitting around you in a circle or in two lines on either side. Everyone will have the best seat in the house, no more craning your neck at the back to get a glimpse of the kiss moment!

The benches below could be one per couple/household for this outdoor ceremony to adhere to social distancing.

4. go big or go home - dramatic ceilings!

Put some of the money you’re saving on guest numbers into a beautiful ceiling installation for the day. This will not only make the space feel more intimate, but will create a central focal point - especially useful for big spaces.

Either do yourselves or pay someone to design and make for you. If you’re in London this is something I can do for you, or if you’d prefer, I can design remotely and have everything delivered to your house or venue ready for you to install. 5. Max out your dining experience

The benefit of only having 15 at a wedding means you can really pay attention to the detail at the dining table, creating beautiful table settings and tablescape on one large table. You’ll have to spend less on things like namecards and table name displays so can go even more luxe for the guest settings you have AND the food itself - 10 course tasting menu anyone?! Could each setting include a lovely gift for your guests to take home?
